An exciting and awe-inspiring glimpse into my life: movie reviews (which are replete with spoilers), Penn State football, Washington Nationals, and life here in the nation's capital. Can you handle it?

Happy birthday, Mom!

Today is my mother's birthday. Today she turns . . . perhaps it's best not to mention. ;) Perhaps it's best to just wish her a happy birthday and a happy day!

I'm convinced Teddy will never win

After four straight years of seeing Teddy going without a win in the President's Race at Nationals games, I decided to pose the question today of his chances during Tom Boswell's Washington Post chat.
Arlington, Va.: Will Teddy ever win a President's Race?

Tom Boswell: He won on Tuesday but was disqualified for cutting the corner illegally in RF. This drove Chico Harlan over the edge. He bought it! For a second, he thoughty he'd seen Teddy win. Now he's bitter. I'm trying to bring him around. Obviously, he will NEVER win until __1) a post-season game, 2) a Series game or 3) an All-Star game.

Well, an All-Star game shouldn't be more than 10-12 years away. I wouldn't wait: whichever come first.
It pains me to admit this, but I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that Teddy will never win a President's Race. Let's think about it for a minute! Teddy has had multiple golden opportunities to win—the final game at RFK, any of the home openers, the inaugural game at Nationals Park (which I think would have been the best time for a Teddy win)—yet the Lerners in their wisdom have maintained Teddy's losing record. I can see how it would have been a draw in years past, but seriously, the novelty of Teddy being the underdog wore off long ago. And incidents like last Tuesday's serve as little more than a tease to the fans. So I say to the Lerners, either let Teddy win finally, or just fess up to the fact that Teddy will be the perennial loser in the President's Race.

The two-year anniversary of a beautiful memory

Piggybacking on yesterday's post where I noted how Michigan football can't get its shit together, I decided to mark the two-year anniversary of a beautiful football memory. (Better turn up your volume, though.)

Though if you prefer the famous radio cry (at regular volume), here it is. Seriously, how you can not love that final shot of the stunned, silent Big House that's been brought to its knees?
