We are . . . Penn State!!!

A Happy New Year to all! And what better way to usher in the new year than with an Outback Bowl victory against Tennessee?

This game wasn't as nail-biting or as history-making as last year's late-night Orange Bowl win, but today still provided an exciting game for Penn State fans to be proud of. I have to confess, I was nervous for much of the game, because it seemed like no matter how much we pulled ahead, Tennessee would still come back to tie the game.

I think I can safely say, this was the best offensive performance I've seen all season! I wish Anthony Morelli would have played this good in September and October, for he was finally connecting with the receivers—and better yet, he even looked like he knew what he was doing! For once he wasn't frantically searching for a receiver, eating up too much play time and running the risk of being sacked.

I was puzzled by all the challenges that got overturned today—and each one of them for the same call, no less! The only play I seriously disagreed with today was at the end, when Penn State was on the 1-yard line on 4th down, and Joe decided to go for the field goal. I would have gone for the touchdown myself, because that would have secured our lead better than a field goal would have, but we still managed to come out on top, 20-10, over the Volunteers.

Chalk up another win for JoePa's winning record! And may this signal good days ahead for the 2007 football season!
